The 9230 is suitable for busy warehouses or bustling gyms and features a pivoting head for directional air flow. With a powerful motor and steel construction, this fan is the perfect cooling solution for instant air circulation and cooling. With application in mind, Air King added a powder coated finish to the blade guard and motor housing for years of optimal performance. This unit meets the made in America requirements of ARRA, tested in accordance with AMCA standard 230.00 and complies with ETL and OSHA regulations. Adjustable Settings with a Powerful Motor

Air King knows that the power house of any fan is a high-quality motor. With this in mind, Air King equipped this model with a 3-speed, fully enclosed motor for quiet operation with permanent lubrication and a split capacitor. This single phase, ball bearing motor has 3-speed settings for cubic feet per minute of 7400, 6360, 4980 on high, medium and low and rotations per minute of 1040, 902, 860 on high, medium and low. The motor is rated for 2.4, 1.9 and 1.5 amps and 255, 200 and 154 watts. The industrial grade fan motor means high velocity air circulation with little to no maintenance.

Additional Features for a Dependable Work Fan

This unit features a pivoting head to direct airflow and a steel blade guard and rubber handle with oversized wheels (on its base) for easy transport. The blade guard, motor housing and handle are finished in black. This unit includes a 10-foot, 3-conductor SJT type power cord and a rotary control for ease of use. Air King 9230 Industrial Grade High Velocity Pivoting Floor Fan, 30-Inch Review

We mainly use this fan in our home in Minnesota to exhaust the hot air and bring in the cool air upstairs before we go to bed. I hate using the AC when it's cool outside so I threw down for one of these to offset the cost of cooling and push out the heat as soon as we get home. I must say that I am very impressed with it's performance! I've used other great fans from A.K., Vornados, and such but this beast (and it is large) blows the comp out the window. It's not quiet but my gosh can it push some air. It can literally exhaust our 1st and 2nd floors in a matter of minutes on high. Two floors are probably 2400sq.ft. put together so that tells you how much air it can move. When we turn it on in our master bedroom it causes such a draft that the heavy 4' horizonal blinds come 5-6 inches off the window when she spins up to max RPMs. CFM is very impressive and never experienced anything like it in any other home. :-)

I grew up in the country and this fan compares to the barn fans that were installed in the milking areas of my farmer buddies. It's a little loud to be honest so expect that but also know what you're buying. This fan is heavy, built very well, and metal everything so not meant to be carried up and down stairs. We'll use it in the winter as well to even out the "hot spots" in our house and keep things a little more consistent around the house.

I debated going with two of the 20 inch versions but thought I could just re-purpose some of my already great fans and try the "big daddy" out. Glad I did! I like the performance of this due to the time it can take to cool down your house.

Pros
CFM is exceptional - isn't that what you're looking for when you buy a fan of this size?
Have since seen this fan in a large warehouse and it looked very old...shows it's industrial build.
Metal everything...truly a solid build and will last a long time. Reminds me of that old 25 pound oscilating desktop fan grandma always had. The one that created minor flesh-wounds on your fingers!
Wheels and handle help move it around quite nice.
All pieces are coated metal so that would resist rust if you were to use it in a greenhouse type area.

Cons
Louder than most fans but not terrible for it's size and performance. (wife loves to sleep with it on but I prefer it off...it's off by the time I hit the pillow)
Heavy and bulky. You can lift it but it swivels so it's kind of a pain to move.
They should have put on a better rotating solution in place. Can easily be fixed by replacing the rubber washers with better ones down the road if/when needed.
A fourth, slower speed, would be nice actually. It RIPS pretty good on low.

I'm taking off 1 star now that I listed all those cons but boy is it a nice fan. I do love it and you can't really beat it for the price if you are truly looking to move some air! If we were not moving out-of-state in a few months I would buy one and mount it in the garage, for sure.
