I have had these knives for a little over a year now. The set included exactly what I needed for every day use. The 6-inch is a little more maneuverable than the typical 8-inch chefs knife and is the knife that I am always reaching for. The 3-inch paring and 4-inch utility are useful for fruit cleaning, cheese cutting and are seeing the most use. The scissors have been working great.
When I first received them I was very excited. They looked great and were very sharp and sturdy as expected. These are forged, which makes them longer lasting but also more expensive than stamped.
Over time I have come to realize that due to their high hardness they are difficult to sharpen. I have bought several 2 stage sharpeners and I still struggle to get them sharp enough to slice through ripened tomatoes. If I could get them sharper easier and the price was a bit lower I would give them a 5 star rating. The fact that they are made in Germany makes them a bit over-priced compared to Made in China steel made from comparable steel.
I would not recommend them for people without good experience working with knives.
