This is a very nice looking and sturdy bench and if you have a mission style or arts-and-crafts style decor, it will fit right in. My problem is with the hardware and instructions supplied to put it together. To be honest, I've seen worse instructions, but these are not very good. It was because of the poor instructions that we ended up putting the arms on backwards - they don't point out they have a definite front and back and the construction is such that they'll fit either way fine...until the last step, which is putting on the back.

As for the hardware, it's just abysmal. This piece is, for the most part, your typical shaft and cam construction which was expected. The issue is the corner supports, each of which must be secured to the frame with the cheapest screws I've ever seen in this type of project. There are no pre-drilled holes in the frame for them, just in the supports, so you have to push pretty hard to get them to catch into the wood of the frame and go in. Not a big deal with a driver, but not something to try with a hand screwdriver. Additionally, I don't know what kind of metal these screws are (they're a dark brass color) but it's soft - very soft. These are amazingly easy to strip while driving - if you can get half of them in without stripping, you're doing good. Add to this a difficult angle (they're in the corners) and you're in for a frustrating time.

So, overall, this piece isn't bad - it looks good and, when assembled is sturdy and will probably last a number of years. But if you buy this, double and triple check every step of the instructions and make a trip to the local hardware store before assembling to get some screws made out of something besides the tin foil rejects they provide.
