This is a nice TV stand for the cost, especially since I found it for less at a different website, but not by much.

Regarding construction, it seems quite sturdy, made from thick particle board and covered with a rich brown laminate on all visible surfaces. I was impressed that the back panels, which are often that thin cardboard that you nail to the back, are actually very rigid and are encased in slits in the surrounding wood pieces. The only part that seems a bit flimsy is the kickboard around the bottom, but there are also thick "legs" underneath for extra support, and the weight of the unit and contents should keep the kickboard from coming out of place. I recommend using glue along with the pegs used to assemble that part. The only parts that did not line up quite right during assembly were one of the glass doors that hangs about 1/8 inch lower than the other doors and one of the magnetic doorstops that is only halfway overlapping the corresponding part on the door. Everything else was drilled pretty much exactly right, and those are pretty minor things anyway.

As for function, our first criterion was that it had to hold our 47-inch plasma TV, which it does very well. Second, we wanted to store our DVD collection in it, and it just fits, but of course that would depend on how much media you have. The description says it holds 150 DVDs, which is probably about accurate, but we have seasons of TV shows with multiple discs per box, so I can't say for sure how many single DVDs it holds. The center compartment holds a PS3, Wii, Wii Fit Balance Board, and all the controllers and remotes easily. There are only two shelves, but they are wide enough to hold things side-by-side and one is adjustable so you can probably fit a lot of stuff in various configurations to fit your needs. The remotes do work through the glass, too.

So overall, this seems like a nice piece of furniture that should last a while without too much abuse. I recommend it!
