I absolutely love this saucepan. After purchasing the Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 7-1/4-Quart Round French Oven, Cherry Red I instantly fell in love with Le Creuset. I wanted a new, better "heavy bottom" saucepan to make candy. This saucepan heats evenly, stays warm, can withstand metal utensils, and is a manageable size and weight. Because the saucepan has thick walls and a thick bottom it is able to retain heat perfectly. The lid is also heavy, and is excellent for keeping things hot and for preventing liquids from boiling over. There is even a small hole in the lid to allow some steam to escape. Both sides of the saucepan have a special pour shield. Now, when I pour liquid out of my SAUCEpan I no longer have drips of hot liquid running down the side of the pot and all over the counter. Perfect.
I do suggest purchasing a Le Creuset Silicone Cool Tool Handle Sleeve, Cherry. The handle does get hot, but not immediately. If you plan to use this saucepan in a very hot oven I also suggest buying a Le Creuset L9403-45 Stainless-Steel 2-Inch Replacement Knob.
