We just put this bed together, so can't say anything about the durability, but it does look nice. Materials aren't high end, but then again, neither is the price. The painted surfaces look glossy and finished and give the impression of having staying power. However, the instructions were some of the worst I've come across and I'm a build your own/Ikea veteran.
Maybe the manufacturer should take a look at other build your own directions for inspiration....
